Trust Chairman receives apology from Hugh Keevins

We can confirm that Hugh Keevins of the Daily Record yesterday rang our Trust Chairman to apologise for him being misquoted in last Thursday's edition, leading up to the Club's AGM. This apology was accepted, and no retraction has been requested as our Trust Chairman felt that as it was only himself and not the Trust which had been disadvantaged by this misquote, and that as our Members did not believe it in any case, that fresh oxygen would not be beneficial. We shall be monitoring any interviews given to this journalist particularly closely in the future, and are confident that there will be no repitition. For the "Record" the quote in question was attributable to Martin Rose of the Motherwell Trust, now Motherwell FC, and not any Board member of the Rangers Supporters Trust.

Open Day Tomorrow - Reminder

We would like to remind all Rangers fans that the Rangers Supporters Trust will be holding an Open Day this Saturday (27 September 2003) in Ibrox Primary School. This is a great chance for any new and prospective members to come along and find out a bit more about the Trust and meet five members of the Trust Board. New members can pick up their membership cards, and prospective members joining on the day can do so too. Please note that new members who are unable to attend will have their membership cards mailed to them soon.

This is a "drop-in" session and anyone interested should come along anytime between 11:00am and 2:00pm on Saturday, just before the SPL match against Dundee at Ibrox.

Trust Chairman seriously misquoted in yesterday's Daily Record

The Trust would like to make it clear that at no time in the interview with Hugh Keevins was the subject of "a personal invitation to join the Rangers Board" ever mentioned, and the Trust will be taking this matter further. We shall also be reviewing our current media policy at our next Board Meeting.

Club Officially Meet the Trust this Morning

In response to a formal request from the Trust, Rangers FC plc Chairman, John McClelland, and Director of Football Business, Martin Bain, today met the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Rangers Supporters Trust.

The two hour meeting, which could best be described as cordial, was a good opportunity for both organisations to explain their current thinking on a number of topical issues, and although no tangible progress was made, the Trust Chairman is to write to the plc Chairman with further details, and it is envisaged that further dialogue will ensue.

Newspaper Poll shows 96% of fans want elected supporter representation on the Board

A poll conducted by Glasgow's Evening Times showed a very encouraging 96% of Old Firm fans to be in favour of the Trust's main objective. The Trust would like to thanks the Evening Times for highlighting this issue to a wide audience, and for conducting this poll, which is a complete vindication of all our efforts.

We also think that the following quote by Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonalds, is highly appropriate to our current situation:-

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius is not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."
