06 November 2006 This informal evening will take place at 7.30pm on Friday the 1st December at the 'Wee Rangers Club' on Edmiston Drive. The quiz will have 10 rounds of 10 questions each - 6 of the rounds related to Rangers and 6 on football in general. Cost is £20 per team of 4 people with all proceeds going to the Sara Thackray Foundation. Contact us through the site to book your team's place or buy now via PayPal using the button below. 06 November 2006 The RST wishes to express its deep sadness at the passing of Rangers Legend Bobby Shearer. Bobby was a fantastic player and a real ambassador for the club. The Trust also feels it would be most appropriate that Bobby be remembered in the traditional way, with an immaculately observed minutes silence prior to this Wednesday evening's match with St. Johnstone. Our most sincere condolences go to all of Bobby's friends and family at this sad time. The thoughts of all Rangers supporters will be with them. The Rangers Family has lost a very special member today. 10 November 2006 The RST attended a brief meeting with David Murray and Martin Bain before Wednesday’s match with St. Johnstone. Attendees were Chairman Malcolm McNiven, Vice-Chairman Scott McMillan, Spokesperson David Edgar and Webmaster Stewart Franklin. While the details of the meeting were confidential, the RST feel that their members should know that the RST reps raised a number of concerns relating to the club in the short discussion. Topics raised included finance; the short and long-term planning strategy of the club; media; and the clubs relationship with the fans. The Chairman listened and indicated he would make a statement in the next few days. The RST look forward to hearing his statement and will discuss its implications at our next board meeting, scheduled for next week. A further meeting between the club and the RST is provisionally scheduled for late December. 10 November 2006 'The Sun' Newspaper today printed a picture of Paul Le Guen under the headline ‘The Shakiest Hun in the West’. The RST unreservedly condemn the use of this offensive and sectarian insult. It is also especially insensitive that 'The Sun' chose to use this in the week of Remembrance Day. Once again, it seems that while Rangers fans are condemned for using terminology others find offensive, terms Rangers fans find offensive are considered acceptable. The RST call on 'The Sun' to apologise. We also suggest our members contact the Sun to register their disgust: scottishsunletters@the-sun.co.uk 15 November 2006 Soccer Jackpot – It’s a brand new game – and a great way to boost the Trust funds! The venue is the Holiday Inn in the city centre of Glasgow. Doors open at 7pm and the 5 course dinner will be served from 7.30pm. The cash bar will be open from around 7pm till 2am. Our first honorary member Mark Walters will be our main speaker of the evening and we are delighted to announce that renowned speaker Bill Copeland; comedian Bert Allen and the legend that is Gordon Smith (MC for the evening) will complete the first-class line-up. A host of ex-Rangers players are hoping to attend. These include Billy Davies, Colin Jackson, Colin Stein, Tom Forsyth, Ally Dawson & John MacDonald and hopefully many more. We are also hoping to organise discounted room prices for those of us who would like to stay over in the excellent hotel. Tickets have again been kept to a very reasonable £50 per person or £500 for a table of ten and demand is expected to be high. All monies raised will go to further increasing the RST's shareholding in Rangers FC. Dress code is smart. You can now buy tickets securely via our online booking form or by sending a cheque (made payable to the Rangers Supporters' Trust) to: The Rangers Supporters' Trust
You can now also pay using PayPal by clicking the button below! It really couldn't easier! Keep an eye on the site for more info regarding this exciting event. Please contact us through the site regarding any questions regarding the dinner. Please note that Rangers have no game that day but Scotland are at home to Georgia. 17 November 2006 The Trust would like to congratulate the RSA on ensuring Dunfermline Football Club were fined £10,000 by the SPL for their unfair ticketing policy. We would also like to echo the RSA's call for Dunfermline to contribute the outstanding profit they made from this breach of rules to the Rangers Charity Foundation. We also agree that the SPL should donate the £10,000 fine money to the Foundation so the money is utilised by Rangers for a good cause. The Rangers away support should consider very carefully which grounds they visit and the prices they pay to do so. It's difficult for the Trust to advocate boycotts of away grounds as support of the team is always primary. However, perhaps our fans should be more selective in deciding whether or not to use the refreshment facilities at these grounds. |
