Rangers v Dundee United – Tuesday 12 April – major traffic delays forecast

In addition to the ongoing work on the Kingston Bridge, which restricts the traffic flow across the River Clyde, nightly work has now commenced in the Clyde Tunnel, and is likely to last over a year, thereby applying a pincer movement to matchbound fans.

Accordingly, the Trust Chairman, Colin Glass, wrote a lengthy letter to Robert Booth, Director of Land Services at Glasgow City Council (as he has ultimate responsibility for the Clyde Tunnel) detailing a compelling case why the start of work that evening should be delayed until 11pm, but unfortunately, a detailed reply declining our request was received today.

In view of the fact that another capacity crowd (there will probably only be 28 empty seats, as things stand) is expected for what is shaping up to a crucial match for both sides, we would advise our members to allow a full hour to get from the north end of the Tunnel to Ibrox, and a similar time on the return journey. Whilst we appreciate that walking that distance could be quicker, we share our members frustration, but at least we did try our best to try and minimise the inconvenience which lies ahead.

Procedure for Electing New Board Members

Full details will be published in the next edition of the Blue Spirit, which will be snail mailed to members over the next three weeks or so. After consulting with Supporters Direct, it has become apparent that if there are six or less nominations, then no election will take place. If that is the case, then we shall at least publish the A4 applications, which detail the reasons why each new applicant wishes to join the Board, sent in by each nominee in the following edition of the Blue Spirit, which will precede our AGM in August. We do hope that the number of nominations does exceed six, but that is in the hands of RST members.

Charity raffle for the Craighalbert Centre in Cumbernauld

This excellent cause, which helps young children with cerebral palsy, is running a raffle with some excellent Rangers-related prizes.

Notwithstanding the fact that many Trust members have dug deep for good causes recently, especially the Davie Cooper Foundation, the Trust Board feel it very worthwhile to bring this one to our members' attention. Further details can be found by clicking this link:-

We shall be inviting nominations from Trust members for Board positions. Full details of this will also be contained in the The Blue Spirit, but if you would like to renew online (same price as last year) then please visit the JOIN NOW page.
