Ticket prices have been tagged at an unbelievably low price of £20pp. This includes a high quality Indian buffet meal cooked by Mr Singh's restaurant and an hour stand up performance by superb comedian, Frank Robb. We will aim to have another top-class speaker (to be announced), a DJ/disco and hopefully some ex-Rangers players in attendance. Tickets will go fast for this exciting event and we hope every Trust member will try their best to attend. Our annual fundraising dinner in March was a great success however we do appreciate that for some the price of that dinner can be expensive. A positive debate was held at Murray Park and all parties are united in a bid to silence the minority that continue to tarnish the reputation of Rangers Football Club. It was obvious from last night`s meeting that the recent fines imposed by UEFA and the associated press coverage has been detrimental to the Club and to the individuals who genuinely support Rangers for its football and true values. It has been agreed between members of the Club’s Board and representatives of the fan base that in the coming weeks this joint committee will do everything in their power to ensure that the Club does not breach the UEFA directives and implore upon the fans that self policing among the support is key to avoid sanctions being imposed or expulsion from European competition altogether. David Murray commented “These supporters groups represented should be applauded for coming forward in recognition of the importance of this issue. I am delighted at the progress we made last night. “Over the last two years the Club has strived fervently under the banner of Pride over Prejudice working with the authorities to impose indefinite and lifetime bans. I look forward in the coming weeks to implementing some of the actions that were discussed. It is absolutely clear to all concerned that all Supporters need to commit to silencing the minority.” This meeting coincidently coincided with UEFA’s written grounds for the decision rendered by the Appeal Body in relation to Rangers two Champions League matches against Villarreal. UEFA have issued the Club with certain directives in order to combat sectarianism more efficiently. Firstly the Club has been ‘ordered to announce measurable targets in order to reduce sectarian behaviour amongst its supporters’. Secondly ‘to control their anti-sectarian activities by producing comprehensive statistics that are communicated to the public’. Finally ‘to make a public address announcement at every official fixture, be it international or domestic, stating that any sectarian chanting and any form of ‘Billy Boys’ songs is strictly prohibited.’ David Edgar of the Rangers Supporters Trust, Mark Dingwall of Follow Follow and Jim Templeton of the Rangers Supporters Assembly jointly agreed the following Statement: “The message now could not be clearer that the spotlight is upon the Supporters and the Club and it is their duty to work together to stamp out the minority who are damaging the reputations of all those connected with Rangers Football Club. “Not only does this small minority tarnish the reputation of Rangers, but of Scottish football and our society in general and hopefully anyone who is interested in Scottish football will work with us in assisting to eradicate this behaviour.” Supporter Representatives Jim Templeton - Assembly President
12 June 2006 For clarification, at a recent meeting held between fans representative groups and the club, no group voted, or was asked to vote, to ban any particular Rangers song. Our Club has a proud and matchless heritage; a magnificent support; a club with a multi-national squad with players from around the world in recent years like Amoruso, Albertz and Prso whom we have taken to our hearts. We want to enhance that by promoting traditional Rangers songs with the proper words and no irrelevant additions. 16 June 2006 The Trust are delighted to announce our support for the Dundee Trust's 'URE Dundee' campaign to increase their shareholding in Dundee FC Find out more about 'URE Dundee' via this link. Vive Le Guen Revolution! 23 June 2006 The Rangers Supporters' Trust would like to express its disappointment regarding Rangers' festive fixtures for season 2006/07. To ask Rangers fans to travel to Aberdeen and Inverness within 4 days of each other either side of Christmas Day seems unfair and is hardly conductive to maximising attendances and thus revenue for Scottish football. In addition, the likely inclement weather and restricted travelling options means such a choice of fixtures seems rather misguided to say the least. Although the Trust appreciates the SPL fixture list is decided by computer, perhaps the SPL would be better served to employ some common sense when it comes to convenience and safety for travelling supports of all clubs. As such, we would urge the authorities to rethink how the fixtures are decided to avoid such negative scheduling in future. 29 June 2006 Can all our members please note this year's AGM will provisionally take place on Saturday 09 September in Partick Burgh Halls from 10.30am (for a 11am start) till 1pm (Rangers play Falkirk at Ibrox that day KO: 3pm). However you can both renew and join on the day. We do ask though, that if you are taking this option that you arrive early to allow us to process your renewal/application.
