Rangers Supporters Trust - April 2006 (Click here to view the full archive) |
|
11 April 2006 The Trust would like to take this opportunity to offer all Rangers fans the chance to join the Sporta Racing Club.
The thrill of race horse ownership has to be experienced to be
understood. To have a stake in a group of horses such as those offered
by Sporta Racing is not an opportunity that presents itself very often.
Their stable has been carefully selected and trained by some of the best
known names in the business. Click the banner below for more info on how to join while at the same time raising much needed funds for the RST. 13 April 2006 The Trust would like to apologise for any delay in new members receiving their membership packs and share certificates. This is completely outwith our control due to a overall market shortage of Rangers shares. Your patience and understanding is much appreciated. Please note if you would like your membership pack sent out without the certificate in the first instance, contact us through the site in the usual way. 17 April 2006 On behalf of the Trust Board, our members and Rangers supporters everywhere, the RST calls upon Hugh Keevins to publicly apologise for the disgusting comparison made on April 13th between our fans and Nazi Party rallies, events which ultimately led to the deaths of over 11 million innocent people. We wrote to those responsible for the 'Scotsport Fanzone' programme the day after these remarks were made and will inform Trust members if and when a reply is received. Additionally, we call on the management of Scottish Television, Radio Clyde and the Daily Record to publicly distance themselves from these remarks and offer the necessary assurances that action will be taken to ensure that this outrageous behaviour is never repeated. Should neither of these be made, the Trust will approach Rangers Football Club seeking the necessary remedial action. Following a week where Rangers and their fans have been singled out for a continuous stream of criticism despite UEFA's comprehensive and reasoned 'not guilty' verdict, the Trust notes how media figures continue to denounce Rangers fans for alleged sectarianism and bigotry, yet use offensive sectarian terms and language to describe us. Only on Saturday, despicable chants from Aberdeen fans about the Ibrox Disaster and horrific injuries to past Rangers and Scotland players went unreported. Both the RST and Rangers FC understand that problems exist within a section of our support in respect of bigoted chanting. Yet despite educational work done by the Club and regular statements by the Trust condemning sectarianism and bigotry, self-appointed media pundits - of whom Hugh Keevins is by no means the only example - seem unable to move beyond exercising their own prejudices and bigotry about Rangers and Rangers fans. The Trust believes that the frustrated prejudices, overblown sensationalism and markedly one-sided approach shown by the Scottish sporting media is counter-productive in terms of the necessary debate on sectarianism. More importantly we believe this helps perpetuate existing divisions instead of bridging them and the Trust calls on self-appointed media experts to either make adult, sensible and informed contributions to the debate or to spare us the hypocrisy and the finger-pointing which ultimately solves nothing. 18 April 2005 Although proper renewal letters are currently being prepared for issue with this month's edition of The Blue Spirit (posted this week), members are welcome to renew online now, and thereby give Trust funds an early boost in advance of some fairly heavy expenditure for our forthcoming initiatives. We shall also be inviting nominations from Trust members for Board positions. Full details of this will also be contained in the The Blue Spirit, but if you would like to renew online (same price as last year) then please visit the JOIN NOW page. Please note that anyone not yet in receipt of their share, will not have to renew until April 2007. 23 April 2006 After 3 years of hard work and legal obstacles, the RST is delighted to announce the release of our innovative new 'ShareSave' scheme for all Rangers fans. Over the next few weeks we can expect to hear more about this initiative both on this site and in the media. Please visit the ShareSave section of our site for more information. If you have any questions regarding ShareSave, please contact us in the usual way. 25 April 2006 The Trust would like to make available a ShareSave flyer for download. This can be used by fans and RSC's to spread the word amongst their friends, colleagues and fellow fans to ensure the largest possible take-up of the scheme. Please print the flyers out and give to as many 'offline' bears as you can.
