Credit card renewals and new applications

As the Trust has recently set up a new bank account, we have experienced a delay in setting up the system for processing these payments. Please rest assured that we have a record of them all, and should be processing them in one batch as soon as this system is operational, which will be early next month. There have been no delays to any other method of payments, all of which are completely up-to-date. Members who have joined or renewed by credit card can rest assured that they will not be disadvantaged in any way by this temporary glitch, and like all other members who have joined/renewed by the end of April, will be eligible to vote in any election for new Trust Board Members, the nomination period for which also expires today.

Win a copy of the new Rangers Book coming out in August

'Rangers: The Complete Record' written by Bob Ferrier and Robert McElroy with official backing from the Club is the new official history of Rangers from the foundation of the club to the present day. This fascinating title contains information on every game, every scorer, every player and every attendance. Covering memorable matches and manager profiles as well as appearance records, this book will be a must for the book shelves of every Rangers supporter.

To reward all fans pre-ordering this title the publishers will print their names in the special Roll of Honour featured at the back of the book. All that members need to do is visit http://www.breedonbooks.co.uk/rangersfan to pre-order their book and inform the publishers of the name they wish to feature in the Roll of Honour (one name per order). On publication in August, members can have the book delivered to their home (£4.00 charge applies for UK) or they can opt to pick their book up from the Club shop. Either way the book costs just £19.99 (as it would in any bookshop) but they will have their name featured in the book.

We are being given a copy of this book which we shall award to the winner of the following question, and tie-breaker?

At which park did Colin Stein make his Rangers debut, scoring a hat-trick in the process?

The tie-break question is, What colour of socks did he play in that day?

Please e-mail your answers, name and membership # to glenrosa@btinternet.com by the end of this month, and the winner will be announced in May.

Davie Cooper charity print available in Prize Draw

The RST in partnership with the Blue Order are to raffle the last remaining Davie Cooper print, from the recent Cooper charity night. This is one of only 11 copies specially printed, and is valued at £600. All monies raised will be donated to the Davie Cooper Foundation, for which we have already raised in excess of £10,000.

There are only 60 raffle tickets available at £10 each. To enter, simply send a cheque for £10, with your membership number and "Cooper Charity" on the reverse to Malcolm McNiven, RST, c/o Direct Sharedeal, 3rd Floor, Sterling House, 20 Renfield Street, Glasgow, G2 5AP.

The raffle is only open to members of the RST or Blue Order. The first 60 cheques received will be automatically entered into the draw. The draw shall take place in the Blue Order section of the Clachan after the Rangers v Celtic match on Sunday 24 March.

This is a first class painting and an excellent chance for a true fan to own it. Most of all, it is for a worthwhile cause, so please send your entry today.

Renewal packs being mailed tomorrow

The Trust passed a significant milestone today, some two years after our historic Launch Meeting in Partick Burgh Halls, and along with this particular set of renewal forms, there will be the nomination papers for our first Election since our first AGM in August 2003. Elections will be annual events henceforth, with one third of the elected members retiring in rotation, and new (or re-elected) members serving three year terms.

There will be a total of seven places up for Election this Spring, following the retiral of some of the original Trust Board, including the Chairman and the Webmaster. Members are encouraged to follow the guidelines set out in the latest edition of The Blue Spirit if they wish to serve as a Trust Board Member, and only those who are paid-up members as at the end of this month may vote, propose, second or stand themselves. If the number of nominations exceeds seven, then an election, supervised by independent scrutineers will take place.

Also included in the renewal packs will be a pleasant surprise for our Lifetime members, and the opportunity for existing members to save the Trust costs (and themselves inconvenience) be organising their renewal, both this year and beyond, by standing order.

RST appeal to SPL to announce the date of next Old Firm match

In recent days, there has been speculation that the last Old Firm game of the season will be played the weekend of 23rd/24th April. Fans of both sides will benefit from knowing the date and kick off as soon as possible as they have to arrange travel to the game. Policing, stewarding and ticketing arrangements have to be put in place so there is no reason why the fans cannot be told of the date as soon as it is agreed. The Rangers Supporters Trust appeal to the SPL to ensure the game’s date is announced as soon as possible.
