Question:
"If you could wave a magic wand, what sort of people would
be your PERSONAL choice to make up the rest of the Trust Board?"
Kenny Blair, Strathaven
Answer:
· "Committed Rangers Fans, obviously
· Should have email - too difficult to function otherwise
· Would prefer not to have an all male Board
· Disabled supporters
· Young supporters
· A printing company owner!
· People with skills and talents to offer
· Rule 56 (refers to):
- NARSA
- Northern Ireland
- Rangers Supporters Alliance
- A sizeable Club more than 50 miles away
At the end of the day it is up to the Trust
members to vote for candidates on a democratic basis".
Colin Glass
Question:
"Can your share save amount increase/decrease as your finances
dictate?"
James McLaughlin
Answer:
"Yes. Standing orders can be set up with your Bank and
you can change the monthly amount by contacting your Bank although
it wouldn't be advisable to make too many changes."
Malcolm McNiven
Question:
"Can the Club logo be trademarked???"
Stuart McClelland
Answer:
"Yes, and we support the Club on this, as it represents
a valuable source of revenue to them in the post-Bosman era."
Colin Glass
Question:
"I feel that the Club is failing fans. How will the Trust
address this?"
Neil, East Enclosure
Answers:
(a) "Media Relations. The majority of
messages from supporters refer to the negative publicity the
Club faces. Deliberate false information has a huge adverse
effect not only on Club's reputability but also commercially.
e.g. Boy asked his Mother for a Rangers Top but she refused
because she believed Rangers was a racist club because of articles
she had read in the newspaper. This not only resulted in lost
revenue from the sale of the top but could also have lost the
club the support of a fan."
Colin Glass
(b) "Bridges have to
be built between the Club and the Trust/Supporters. The Club
must realise that supporters (through the Trust) will now have
a say in the way their Club is run."
Stevie Tyrie
(c) "PR. The majority
of people don't even know who the PR officer is at Ibrox. The
PR role undertaken by John Greig was shocking and was in no
way beneficial to the ordinary supporter. The Club will have
to build on relations with supporters and recognise that that's
what we are - supporters, first and foremost - not customers!
There is no goodwill from Ibrox whatsoever."
David Tweed
Question:
"I have concerns about the treatment of supporters
from Northern Ireland, particularly regarding changes to kick-off
times/fixtures which doesn't taken into consideration travel
arrangements these fans have to make. Fans from NI always seem
to be seen in a negative light. These fans are under-represented
but they offer a very substantial and loyal support."
David Edgar, Govan Rear
Answer:
"At a meeting on 5 March which I arranged with RFC, Jim
Hannah (Supporters' Relations Manager) referred to this issue.
In particular, he mentioned the dreadful article by Stuart Cosgrove
and intimated that the Club had to take some undefined action
against it.
"The match against Linfield last July,
which I was proud to attend, was long overdue.
"As the Supporters' representative, the
Trust hope to be able to take this point to Rangers. Many other
supporters are unhappy with the various kick-off times and disruption
to fixtures. This is an example of the kind of motion the Trust
would put forward at the AGM."
Colin Glass
"I believe the Club are embarrassed by
the Rangers support from Northern Ireland, and they've no need
to be - in fact they should be proud of them. Northern Irish
supporters are vital to the Club and this should be recognised
by Ibrox."
Stevie Tyrie
Question:
"As an ordinary Rangers Fan, I'm concerned that
the Nouveau Riche has taken over at Ibrox. The Alliance has
been in place for some time now and hasn't been able to achieve
anything. Fans are relying on No.1 and the Follow Follow for
information. Fans are being conned all the time.
"Do you have to be a season ticket holder
and have email to be nominated to the Board?
"I'd like to thank the Committee for calling
this meeting and wish them good luck."
Stuart Daniels
Answer:
"No, you don't have to be a season ticket holder and having
email was on my PERSONAL wish list - it would be useful but
no-one will be excluded."
Colin Glass
Question:
"This has been a very positive and informative
morning. You mentioned that members of the Press might be present.
Would it be too overpowering if members of the Mirror Group
were asked to leave immediately?"
George McGee, East Enclosure
This suggestion was met with applause from
the audience.
Answer:
"Press Releases had not gone to the Mirror Group as a deliberate
intention of Board Policy."
Colin Glass
This answer was also greeted with applause.
Question:
"How will this affect shareholders?"
John Tannoch
Answer:
"As with any existing shareholders, shares will remain
in your own name. All the Trust will ask is that you sign over
your voting right to the Trust or vote along with the Trust."
Malcolm McNiven
Question:
"I'm concerned about the level of increases in
the last 2 seasons and I'm against things like the £10
fee for the travel club."
Gordon Sutherland, West Enclosure
Answer:
"The £10 we have asked for will benefit you in the
long run. This will allow the Trust to start to grow and the
bigger the Trust becomes, the more influence we can have and
the more Rangers will have to listen to the supporters."
David Tweed
Question:
"I'm concerned that David Murray is buying up shares which
will mean less shares being available for us to buy."
Supporter, Govan Rear
Answer:
"There will be plenty shares available for the Trust to
buy. The more shares and proxy votes the Trust can get the more
power and influence it will have."
Malcolm McNiven
Question:
"Rock Steady seem to be exercising too much authority at
matches, particularly towards the Blue Order who are being victimised
every week."
Simon Leslie, Broomloan Stand
Answer:
"This is precisely the type of issues the Trust will address.
The more power we have, the more chance we have of changing
things like this"
Stevie Tyrie
